Your electrolytes really matter.
I am a big fan of using electrolytes regularly, especially when we live in dry climates or we're sweating a lot, especially when we're elderly so we can actually absorb the water we're drinking.
But when it comes to acute dehydration, especially in the elderly, especially in children, do not forget the World Health Organization rehydration recipe.
I will make sure to link it in the show notes or you can just Google it and read about it.
So have sugar on hand and have salt on hand in your house and make it easy to find, okay?
So if you have to direct somebody to go do it.
The second thing that I will emphasize here is that you might want to carry salt on you and give it a try.
It's amazing.
Now, for those of you who have high blood pressure and you say, I can't have salt, that's a bigger conversation, but...
Your insulin resistance is driving your high blood pressure with the salt.
Meaning when your insulin is high and you have insulin resistance, which 94% of US adults have, and you're pounding salt or you're using a lot of salt in your food, you are, yes, it can raise your blood pressure.
But the root problem is not the salt, it's your insulin resistance.
So look further into that.
