That's a wonderful idea.

Absolutely.
I think those are great things to have stashed in the back of any cupboard anytime.
But say you don't, and my mom did not, this is what we did.
The rehydration formula is essentially one liter of water, six teaspoons of sugar, and a half teaspoon of salt.
So that's the formula.
And why so much sugar and such a little bit of salt?
That's the big question.
It's because you need the glucose to drive the salt into the cell.
The glucose clearly is more important here than the salt.
So...
heed my warning, pounding high saline only electrolytes.
I'm talking not for athletes.
I'm talking for the general public.
When you guys are at home and you're sick and you're dehydrated and you go grab a packet of any popular electrolyte drink made for athletes in an athletic setting and you start pounding it, you may not be getting the right ratios.
And that sugar part's real important here.
