Well, yes, indeed.
The Greenland shark is a most amazing creature.
How old can it be?
I mean, the one that was washed up in...
they reckon must be at least 150 years old because it was approaching sexual maturity.
It was a male, it had claspers and they only get these.
So it was only a young fella.
Apparently they can live, the oldest of them, up to 500 years of age.
And a female, when she's gestating, the gestation period can last between 8 and 18 years.
My goodness.
But the Greenland shark, do you remember, Derek, you and me and Finn McCool all those years ago, we went to Iceland in February.
What were we like going in February?
But we did.
And one of the things we encountered there was the Parablott Festival, this festival at the end of the winter.
We had survived another winter and they ate the foods that they had preserved so that they would be carried through the winter.
And one of them, if you recall, was Greenland shark.
Now, the Greenland shark is so toxic.
It contains loads and loads of urea and trimethylamine oxide and it's inedible.
So in order for it to be eaten, it has to be absolutely fermented over gravel for about nine or 10 weeks and then it has to be dried.
And this is what they eat.
