Love is to recognize the other as ultimately one with what you are.

I would say love is the recognition of oneness.

It's not the egoic love that says, I need you, don't you dare leave me, because if you do, I'll hate you.

That's the egoic so-called love.

But the real love is to recognize yourself in the other.

But in order to do that, you need to first recognize yourself in yourself beyond the person.

And that connects you with other humans in a very different way, this sense of connectedness that you then have.
