I thought that was extraordinary.

they're watching the game and they're totally, like they're not even at the game, they're usually sitting at home or sitting with some family friends and they're watching this drama unfold and they know that their dad is going to get a pounding if it goes to parachute.

And he does get a, they've seen him get a pounding before, so it's, I actually, it's worse on the kids because the coach signs up for it, they know what they're getting into.

At the end of the day, you can be sympathetic, but you can't be too sympathetic.

If you didn't want the gig, don't get on the horse.

But the kids, it's completely out of their control.

And I've seen my own kids when they were very young, when Ireland were going through good and bad times.

And it's wonderful and it's gone well.

And the same, families go through trauma with this stuff.

And we don't think of that at all.

We just tend to think of the coaches getting a pounding.

Actually, it's actually tougher on the families.

and I'm not so surprised when I read that my heart went out to that child you know what I mean I remember my son ringing home from the World Cup after the Argentina game and I wanted to speak to him and he was in bed with a migraine

He was like 12 years old.

So I know exactly, I just, that young fella must have been traumatized.

You know, and it's just the way it is.

It's tough.

You can't protect them from it.

They go through every emotion you do, but they're not in control of anything.

It's tough on kids, believe me.
