And we found out a lot of this stuff, you know, towards the end of his life because he didn't really sort of talk a hell of a lot about it.
But he was very proud of his service and quite distinguished.
And then Dad's father, Eric Francis Robertson, he was โ this is going to trip you out, man.
So my great-grandfather on Dad's side is โ
a gentleman called Sir Macpherson Robertson who basically created what's now Cadbury Schweppes in Australia.
Oh, no way.
So Mac Robertson's chocolate.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So Old Gold Chocolate, Freddo Frogs, Columbines, Chewing Gum.
He bought the recipe for Chewy over from America.
And he was a Scotsman that basically started off
making sugar candy in an old bloody nail can in his mother's bathroom in a shitty old house in Fitzroy in Melbourne.
And he was just a very hardworking, industrious young bloke and he built that huge company.
And in the Second World War, it ended up being re-rolled to make rations and instead of chocolate and candy, they'd make like ration packs and care packages for the soldiers.
But so his two sons, it was Norman and then my grandfather, Eric,
Norman was groomed to pretty much take over the operations of the company, whereas Eric, he volunteered for the army as an artillery and he went in as a sergeant, right?
But his trade, he was a chemist by trade.
