Genuinely, the most disgusting, misogynistic victim blaming I've heard in a while.
I actually can't even talk about that for much longer because I can feel myself getting, like, hot and angry.
You guys don't need me to sit here and peel back every layer of how disgusting that is, especially given the fact that we are raised and taught as a society to blindly trust the police.
The promise that we are supposed to have from them is that they are right and you listen to them.
So to imply that Sarah did the wrong thing by going with him when he handcuffed her is just so out of the realm of understanding.
It's just the worst take I've ever heard anyone have, never mind another police officer.
Of course, Philip Allitt resigned after the backlash over those comments.
Over 100 of his colleagues actually signed an open letter getting him to resign.
No one wants a man that thinks like that to be in a position of power.
And then, of course, there was the official advice that was given to women who were now terrified at the thought of being approached by a police officer.
Police said that if you had doubts or concerns about the validity of an interaction that you had, then you could do one of the following things.
Now, hold onto your chairs because so much of this is so stupid.
It's actually like laughable.
We'll start with the milder ones.
They said that you could call 999 in front of the police officer that is trying to arrest you.
Okay?
Or you could ask the police officer to radio back to headquarters so that you could speak to someone on his walkie-talkie to verify him.
Or, now this is where it gets insane, you could flag down a passerby, you know, just yell to someone, hey, I'm getting arrested, and have them to come over to witness the situation.
What?
