You see an animal here in Sligo and just to imagine what it's already gone through, what it's seen and where it's been, it's magnificent.
Do we know how it died?
So the shark was taken for a dissection.
The Natural Museum of Ireland took that into control and they did do a post-mortem.
So the shark was looked at.
There was no immediate obvious sign of what it died of.
It was in brilliant condition, which is why it's being taken for taxidermy.
But when we opened it up again, there was no immediate in your face like, oh, there's a big injury here or a high parasite load.
However, a ton of samples were taken from the shark.
So it will be studied extensively and hopefully we'll find out more through that.
The Atlantic Whale Deal has nothing to do with sharks, but everything to do with large whales in the European Atlantic.
It's actually a ship strike project.
So we're trying to find different ways to prevent ship strikes in the European Atlantic, but it could have a wider range.
And the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group is predominantly working on testing thermal cameras and assessing whether they will be useful as an early detection system that mariners can then use to avoid striking large whales.
