And he's not allowed to escape trial because he is in office.

That's long settled law.

And so we're seeking to be in court as soon as possible.

I want Californians to know that this is the style you have to bring to a bully like Donald Trump, that if you are not on offense holding him accountable, then the most vulnerable in our state are on defense.

And so I do this in the same manner that I would work as governor and standing up to him on behalf of Californians, is that you have to make him react and be responsible for his corruption.

Otherwise, the most innocent and vulnerable among us are victims.

This effort to weaponize the FBI against the president's political enemy at a time that we are at war shows a distraction.

We're going into the majority a year from now.

We have every intention to do that.

And so we will bring oversight, accountability.

We will subpoena the Department of Justice, but also private actors who have done these drug deals with the administration, college campuses, entertainment companies, law firms.

And so accountability is coming.

California Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell spent Sunday appearing on a number of TV news programs following reports like one in the New York Post that FBI Director Kash Patel could soon publish documents about a suspected spy for China's communist government,

who is known for having ties to politicians, including Swalwell.

Christine Fang's involvement with Swalwell's career has long been political fodder.

The relationship was the impetus for both a criminal probe and a House ethics investigation.

Swalwell says the potential release of files is aimed at impacting his bid in California's gubernatorial race.
