For several months now, everything has been kind of on the back burner.
However, another reason that it was on the back burner is that after earlier this year, those releases and all the stuff about the video footage from the jail and everything, there was a lot of pressure, not just from Democrats, but from a lot of the Republican base.
They were not happy about how this was being handled.
If you recall...
Pam Bondi claimed that she had the Epstein list on her desk.
She said, it's on my desk right now.
And then later said, there isn't actually a list.
There's no list.
What the fuck was she looking at?
Yeah, I don't know.
So because of that backlash...
There was talk of a vote in Congress to demand the release from the Justice Department of everything related to the case.
And for some reason, there was a lot of people, especially in the Republican Party, who didn't want to do that.
So what they offered instead... What was their reasoning for not wanting to do it?
Well, the reasoning and sort of the reasoning and their solution at the same time was...
the House Oversight Committee should be the one investigating this, and so the Speaker, Mike Johnson, ordered the House Oversight Committee to investigate it.
Now, that isn't ordinarily a bad thing, but it's been widely understood that
By doing it this way, the Republicans who control Congress have a little bit more control over what comes out of this investigation.
They don't want to be the ones covering up, though, too.
Yeah, no, it seems to be a delicate dance that's being played here.
