The White House was asked about it, and I thought the press secretary's answer to why are they doing that was pretty interesting.
So let's take a listen.

She's trying to frame it that the fact that they were willing...
to bring a member of Congress to a closed-door meeting to assure them that there's nothing to worry about and you should back off, that's being transparent.
We're redefining what transparency is here.
This is the thing I've noticed where Taylor kind of does this and others.
They just say, or in Cruel World does it, they just say something completely irrelevant, detached from reality.
and then you just kind of keep going.
And it does work, I think, you know.

So she's suggesting that this meeting is their idea.
Having discussions with members of Congress about various issues, and I'm not going to detail... Transparency is intimidating members of your own party into shutting the fuck up.
That's what transparency is.
So yeah, they're handling it really well over there.

don't think that there is like a mechanism for a national referendum not that it can't be done but like for example in california there is a way there's several ways for that we just did it like we just did like we just did um but california is very into referendums like uh almost to our detriment with all like the propositions and all that kind of stuff i don't
