So in South Australia, every defendant is able to apply for severance.
So it's sort of just like a bail application in the way that you can make an application.
It's up to you.
It's then, of course, up to the court to grant that application or deny it.
These discussions would have been had in pre-trial hearings that I'm not privy to.
I'm not exactly sure what happened in this case, whether there were...
Whether there was an application or not, I'm not certain.
But ultimately, if there had been, it was the court's decision to have them tried together.
