It's hard to decide whether it's coincidence or not.
I mean, you know, it certainly could be.
People talk about something happening to celebrities all the time where you say, oh, I'm surprised so-and-so is still alive, and then, you know, a week later they die.
But I think just because it's in the context of being in a poltergeist case with a spirit that's obsessed and violent and destructive, it takes on a really sinister edge.
No, I don't think it does, because there's so much stuff in this case, I just think that you absolutely can't fake.
This happened in the Enfield case.
Young Janet, who was the focus of that case, is one of the most famous poltergeist cases of all time, and who had phenomena that was witnessed.
We've previously heard from investigators that were there who worked for the BBC and whatnot and other things for a very long time, very well respected, and they saw and directly experienced...
some of the really extreme phenomena that happened in that case.
However, there was also little things later on that they found out that the kids were, I think especially Janet, but the kids were playing up to or embellishing.
And of course that creates a problem because then people want to discredit the entire case and all of the phenomena.
The tapping following Shirley is incredibly interesting because initially lots of people's ideas would just be, oh, it's environmental or it's in the house.
Now, the fact that it seems to be attaching itself to Shirley and it's wherever she goes really solidifies that the house or the environment is not where the phenomena is coming from.
It seems to be attached or around Shirley.
But what's very interesting is the sort of quality or timber, rather, of the sound because sometimes we're talking about tapping, but then we also have banging that is so loud.
The neighbours can hear it, people out in the street can hear it.
It's as if no one stepped back and gone, there's kind of a difference between clicking something once for no or twice for yes and making noises.
So like people are calling the police and neighbours are asking what the bloody hell they're doing ripping up the floorboards.
They're really just interested in going, we've got her, we've exposed her, it's over and selling papers.
It's sensationalist.
