And they probably get some kind of a fee for relaying that information to someone who, A, actually knows which questions to ask, and B, who provides the actual service.
So we have hundreds of layers in the economy now that are just totally useless.
And the lure, I think, is just, oh, my God, here's a business where we basically don't do anything.
Yeah.
And we get to be rich if it happens to scale because we can charge referral fees.
And it creates the worst of customer experiences.
And frankly, when I just think if all of these people actually fixed windows, did something meaningful, added value to the economy, oh my God, it would be really amazing.
But no, we're all in the referral business right now and it's just horrible.
It's not that there are not problems to solve.
So window installations can be done at various levels of quality.
And since it's not something that you do very often, knowing who will do a good job and who will not do a good job, that would be really valuable.
But of course, at the same time, it's expensive.
to do.
And it's not the easiest because how would you know whether a contractor is reliable, not reliable?
And so my sense is it's part of thinking about the economy as sort of a lottery.
And if you hit it big, it'll be really amazing.
But you know that the probabilities are not so great.
And so people are just lazy.
