Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And like even some of the emails were actually incorrect on the email I saw.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

Some of the emails had changed for the schools and there were old principals on them.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

Exactly.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And there again, look, you can't overreact and you can't underreact.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

You know, and obviously I was guided by the GardaΓ and the Delson office sent out an email there lately advising the same as well.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

Look, I think you just make a call about what suits your own school and your own circumstances.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And I think lessons need to be learned about this because I think if there's a coordinated effort made in the future, it might avoid a kind of panic.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

I think when one school tends to close, it can cause a domino effect.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And even schools may close that weren't even mentioned in the original email.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And we just need to learn from it because, as I was in Clare last year, I think there was an issue in Trim a while back.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

No, I definitely think there's merit in having that.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

I know even from the point of view of snow days, we try and coordinate it between the secondary schools and primary schools as well.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And there again, the danger is one school closes and it causes a knock-on effect.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

But I would suggest in future that whenever a school gets a threatening message like this, that it sends straight away to the GardaΓ.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

who will then determine whether it's a credible threat or not, and then advise on the right course of action.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

But I think there needs to be better coordination between the schools, definitely, because it is difficult.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

And a lot of schools did remain open today, as their parents may have opted to take children out of school for their own reasons.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

But as far as I know, everyone's back open tomorrow, and we might sit down afterwards as a group of principals and learn from it, and maybe liaise better with the GardaΓ on it.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

Well, I think that the armed response unit around the town and even around the county just to give reassurance to people and certainly we appreciated it here in the school today and thankfully we didn't need it.

Liveline
"Why would somebody do this?"

But look at it, it's every day the learning day as I say and we'll learn from it and hopefully it won't happen again but if it does we'll be better prepared to deal with it.
