So I work with the community midwives in the Coombe and we have antenatal clinics, postnatal hubs, as Louise said.
We do postnatal visits at home.
So my job is very varied because every day I could be doing a clinic, I could be doing postnatal visits.
It's an important time for the mum when she goes home with the newborn for the first time, particularly if it's her first baby.
They're in a fog, really, for the first couple of weeks, as you probably know, a few children.
But it's very nice to see these mums in a relaxed atmosphere at home.
You get to know them really well.
They get to know you.
The continuity of care is very rewarding.
So it's a lovely job.
Well, like Louise, I went to UCC actually for a year and dropped out.
I went to America for the summer, had a great time, didn't come back.
Okay, that's another conversation.
I came home and I dabbled in veterinary nursing for a while and then I did nurse's aid for a short time.
Then I drifted into general nursing.
And during general nursing, the placement for obstetrics really interested me.
So I moved to the UK for personal reasons and there was a very attractive job there.
