And, you know, you look back and there's not a whole lot of inspiring hires.
You know, James Boettcher is probably the one name you'd even recognize off of that.
And that's not an inspiring hire.
The best thing I really can say about him is, you know,
I've always felt that the Cincinnati Bengals have done a bad job as an organization in acquiring talent and they've been ignoring holes, right?
They've been ignoring stuff for years and they continue to ignore it and they're just going to keep going the way they're going to go and they know better than me.
So whatever, right?
But when he did have...
When his defense, especially the defensive backfield, was loaded with a bunch of average talent with a few above-average guys back when he had Eli Apple, Jesse Bates, Von Bell, Chidobi Awujiye, Trey Flowers, Dax Hill, and Cam Taylor-Britt, he got the most out of all of those guys.
So like I said, maybe inside of him there is a head coach that can get the most out of guys, and maybe he's a hands-off guy where he doesn't need to run his defense and he can just be a head coach.
I'm not willing to take that chance.
I have a whole bunch of notes, and instead I'm just going to read.
Hit me with them.
I'm just going to read what I wrote, and this is amazing to even say this.
It's hard to say what Kafka is really, but he seems like a smart offensive mind.
He's worked closely with his team ownership and the front office, and he likely knows Dart better than anyone else in the NFL right now.
His temperament may not be very demanding from what we've seen, but he at least held players accountable without outwardly throwing them under the bus.
It's hard to imagine him benefit from staying, though.
His best chance, honestly, is probably just a change of scenery as a true offensive coordinator with the freedom to just run an offense that he thinks and creates on his own with all the lessons that he learned here and build his resume off of that.
And I think eventually he can become a head coach somewhere else based off of that.
