Well, the problem was, because Michael was an agent, his mantra to the children was, don't be an actor, don't be an actor, don't be an actor.

Because, as you so rightly said earlier in this conversation, there is a lot of rejection, there's a lot of actors that never work, and there's a lot of actors that get to be very successful, and then they're striving to stay there, which is a pressure all of its own.

So Jack was sort of fed this don't be an actor.

He was then taken to the Edinburgh Festival by a friend of his mother, aged 16, 17.

And I remember him calling us and saying, oh, my God, I found my spiritual home.

I literally, I just didn't even know this existed.

Came back, wrote a sketch show with a couple of mates and then went up to Edinburgh the following year to perform it as he left, having done his A-levels.

He was clearly quite talented and he got spotted and that was it.

I mean, we had nothing to do with any of this success at all because apart from anything else, it was a completely different end of the business to us.

But was it inevitable that he had a performing talent or he had something in him that he had to get out?

Well, he was very artistic.

He's an amazing artist and we thought he was going to go down that route.

He did a foundation course which he then actually left because of the comedy career but

We thought he was going to go to art school because his painting and drawing is spectacular.

So he's clearly creative.

And obviously writes all of his shows as well.

I mean, the spelling is interesting.

But he doesn't have to get that marked.
