You know, you're on a golf course and your first nine is dreadful.

You then relax.

And then that back nine seems to be really good.

They've got to be really good from the beginning now.

And what is so unique about this playoff is effectively you normally go up against, in a playoff, the team twice.

So it's home and away.

So...

But there's nothing like that now.

They have to win both games.

And if I look back on my player experience, against Turkey, we didn't lose and we went out.

And against Iran, we lost and we went through.

There's none of that in terms of aggregate scores now.

It's all about winning those games.

Isn't it amazing how we've gone?

I'm embarrassed to say it, but it got to a stage, even though we're great Irish fans, all of us, but when the Ireland games were coming around, we were like, oh, no, it's another Ireland game.

That's how it felt over the last few years because the lads were just putting in such a shift, but nothing was going right for them.

And now, all of a sudden, now it is, oh, yes, the Ireland games.

And finally, because it felt like an age since that win against Hungary that this game's come grand.
