That was established in 2002 and then we start to hire coaches, Billy being the head coach, Zorantia being the head technical coach and a couple of others in around the talent program from a coaching perspective.
So literally, we were bringing something together for the first time.
We were green.
We knew nothing about high performance.
There was no example in the country that we could copy in terms of a system or a structure.
So we had to kind of learn by doing and figuring things out to start, I guess.
I put a business approach to it in terms of what is our vision for the program?
What strategy do we need to bring this thing forward?
What does the environment need to look like?
How do we structure that?
What does process actually mean?
How do we implement that in the context of training and developing athletes?
And then how do we get into what good looks like?
So how do we get into the best camps in the world?
Zor was very helpful in terms of getting into the kind of Russian system, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, et cetera, so we were able to get exposure.
But before we got there,
We got into France, then we got into Germany, who on the Western nation side were two very successful boxing nations.
So getting in behind and speaking to the top people in those programs was very helpful for us and for our learning.
And nobody really saw us as a threat.
