Well, I feel a little bit like this meeting you because the first time we met was two weeks ago in Paris when I went there for the promotion of the French translation of my book.

Now we're meeting again for the first time in the UK.

But do you remember, you probably don't remember, do you remember roughly when the first time I ever got in touch with you by email was?

I looked it up before this interview.

It was the 22nd of May, 2015.

So exactly 11 years ago.

And I read it.

It was a kind of embarrassingly long email.

You're probably too busy to read it, but you very kindly replied.

And then over the 11 years since then, a number of times I've reached out to you for help, for advice.

Where should I go to university?

How should I study economics?

And you replied every time.

So thank you very much for all of your help across the years.

and i've been following your work very very closely and you're obviously very well known in france now the work you're doing now but obviously we're in england now and a lot of our viewers maybe won't know who you are so could you tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do
