I want to kind of quote you back to yourself just so listeners can understand what we're dealing with.
One line you said that really got to me.
We were uncovering nothing short of a rat tomb.
Deep under the cupboards were rat's nests full of dead rats buried in homes that had been turned into their graves.
Yeah.
You talk about fly feces covering walls, ground covered in maggots.
In one instance, you saw a pot on a stove with liquid inside it full of newborn maggots.
I mean, with all of that in mind, what is some of the grossest things?
Have I touched on them?
Am I even close?
So you were dealing with this kind of scenario, these hoarding houses where people were living basically in their own fields.
You dealt with this a lot.
Did this job make you, I can imagine it would make me cleaner in my own house.
Yeah.
After the break, I asked Donna what kept her returning to this work despite the traumatic scenes she witnessed.
What made you keep going back?
What was rewarding or was it the money?
Like, what made you want to keep doing it?
You were a hairdresser turned cleaner.
I'm interested to know, like some of your colleagues, how they ended up in the job.
