Israel faces a 17% levy under Trump's Liberation Day plan, which surprised Israeli officials amid ongoing war and economic strain. The two leaders will hold joint press conferences this afternoon. A new bill in New York would prevent police from conducting routine stops and searches for low-level violations. Currently, police are able to stop and search vehicles over things like broken taillights, expired tags and registrations, window tints, and the smell of marijuana. Such searches are often used to uncover more serious crimes.

In fact, one such search nabbed serial killer Joel Rifkin, who had the body of a victim in his car at the time he was stopped for a missing plate. Supporters of the bill say it's necessary to promote racial equity as Black and Latino drivers are stopped at higher rates. But opponents, including law enforcement, say it's dangerous and unprecedented.
