That is, landlords who are receiving government money to house people from across the world because the government is subsidizing them.
Most of the local politicians have called for calm and for space for the police to do their investigation.
And whilst there's obviously a degree of truth in that lashing out with violence is not a good thing, what they are really asking for and what that's being interpreted as is we're not going to do anything about this and we would like you to just accept it.
And sadly, that is not a viable solution.
These are not political protests because I think the people here are very aware that the political process does not work.
The violence is towards landlords primarily.
That is landlords who are receiving government money to house people from across the world and we don't know why they're here in their properties and they're receiving a lot higher rents than they would get from the native population because the government is subsidizing them.
