But the crowning moment,
was the centenary round.
So I think let's start here, and then we'll go through the other things a bit later.
So they had all the, Channel 7 went all out too.
We'll get to that in a second.
So it was a centenary round, four games that replicated the first round of VFL football in 1897.
So they scheduled the eight teams that were playing in 1897 to play each other in the same fixtures as that first round.
And they played them as the first four games in this round in 1996.
So Geelong and Essendon was the hero fixture, and that was scheduled on a Wednesday night to coincide with the same date.
Collingwood and St Kilda was played on the Friday night.
Sydney, or South Melbourne as they were in 1897, versus Melbourne on the Saturday and Carlton v Fitzroy on the Saturday afternoon.
They all wore replica Guernseys of the era, as Sando was just saying, which included the printed-on lace-up feature and the design that the teams wore back in 1897.
So this is the first time we've ever seen a club's wear the one-off or special edition Guernsey, which we see every couple of weeks now.
And this is the first of many things.
The first theme round that they ever do is this year.
Yeah.
But the Essendon and Geelong game was the event.
And as we said before, the AFL went all in on this.
So first of all, they play it on a Wednesday night, which had never been done before, not Wednesday nights.
forced them to play two Friday night games the week before.
