The Centenary theme song is played, which actually sounds a bit better on the night because there's a big bagpipe kind of orchestra behind it as well.
So it sounds quite stirring.
But then Geelong and Essendon run out to play, as you said before, with Sando.
All the players were wearing knickerbockers and caps in it.
They line up for the national anthems with their caps over their hearts.
So they must have been instructed to do this.
Uh, and then you would think we cross, you know, usually in this circumstances, the national anthem is going to be played.
We've actually cut the national anthem for this one, but you would think we'd probably cross down to the voice of footy in the nineties, Craig Willis.

The town crier.
The town crier, whose name is apparently Neville Stonehouse, I found.
So I don't know what Neville remembers of being the town crier, if this was a thing that he did.
But the town crier was the emcee for the night, which just shows they didn't lack for attention to detail, the AFL, in putting this on.
So Dave in Wheelers Hill has emailed...
During the celebration rounds, the Melbourne cheer squad were encouraged to wear costumes.
They were provided by the AFL to wear when we held up the banner.
And the photo is indeed of Dave, and I imagine his partner, in clobber from 100 years before, bowler hat, bow tie, and they went out and held the banner up.
Fantastic.
And Adam has sent through the vintage 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz, the AFL centenary edition celebrating a hundred years of football, which is still in the box.
I wonder what that's worth, Adam.
