Grey's anatomy actor Eric Dane is dead.

Dane's representatives say he died Thursday afternoon.

Last April, Dane shared his diagnosis of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and became an advocate for ALS awareness.

Dane was 53.

Volkswagen assembly workers in Tennessee have ratified their first-ever union contract.
