An 18-year-old basically re-energized an entire franchise and fan base.
And I know the pressures that are on that 18-year-old.
And I'm not just talking about on the ice.
Of course there's pressure on the ice.
But I bet you that that 18-year-old Matthew Schaefer feels more confident on the ice than anywhere else in his life.
And he's confident in his abilities.
But what you see off the ice is just the demands.
the demands to be here, the demands to be there.
Can you do this?
Can you show up here?
Can you sign this?
Can you meet my sick kid?
I mean, it's just endless.
And, you know, this is one of the reasons why I think he's living with Matt and Sid is to try to calm some of that stuff down away from the ice, you know, and give him a happy, structured life to be able to be the best player he can be on the field.
Now, Jackson Thorpe's a little bit older.
He's a man.
You know, he played in the NFL last year, had some success.
You know, now it's become a little bit more TMZ-ish, the world of the NFL.
And, you know, he's knee-deep in it.
But I would just always tell him that now, these next two years, man, this is it.
