And there's going to be scouts that he's going to bring over that he's comfortable with, I guarantee you.
I mean, it's the price you pay for hiring a guy with his resume and his reputation.
And anybody that's worth anything that believes in what they do, then that's why you're paying them $20 million a year.
And there's going to be collateral damage, unfortunately, but that's just the business that professional sports is.
I played under a different owner, so I was under Leon Hess, and Leon was towards the end of his ownership before he was getting ready to sell it to Woody Johnson, and he became very impatient.
Very impatient.
And in the middle of all of the time that I was here, our general manager, his name was Dick Steinberg, very well thought of, very highly thought of, highly respected general manager in the league.
Unfortunately, he passed away of cancer right in the middle of my time here when Pete Carroll was the coach.
So...
Bruce Coslick gets fired, so they don't want to lose Pete Carroll because Pete Carroll is the up-and-coming, young, fresh, defensive guy.
Everybody loved Pete.
Everybody loved his personality.
So they fire Pete.
They bring in โ I mean, they fire Bruce, and they bring in Pete.
And Pete's there for a year, and we lose our last four games that season.
And then, of course, without a direction of a general manager like Dick Steinberg, had he been still alive, he probably would have been able to say to the owner, let's just calm down.
We wanted to keep this coach.
We've got to give him another year.
Let him kind of get a hold of the franchise.
