It's great.
It's great.
Now let's wreck it with politics.
When we started winning, the U.S.
team started winning, the narrative machine kicked into gear.
Wall Street Journal now, the editorial board, has published a piece titled America's Immigrant Soccer Team.
And then, of course, the weasel John Cornyn amplified it, arguing the team's success really reflects America's historically welcoming immigration system.
Okay.
This is not about soccer.

The Journal noted that six of the 26 players on the roster were born outside the United States.
Technically true.
But birthplace is not the real question now, is it?
The question is, how many of those players became Americans?
Five of those six were born to at least one American parent.
