I won't say what sort of business or anything, but doing really great.
Didn't have much.
He was a bloody cool guy.
just a real people person and we got him started in his business got all the finance organised for that built it up did great opened up another one and and again he bought a house he said to me I remember him saying to me once I'll never own a bloody house this is too hard and I said no we'll get you there mate and he did and and business started to turn the council changed some bylaws and stuff and ripped up the road in front of his business and
Started to go down, and then the landlord said to him, oh, we want to increase your rent, and it all just got a bit too much for him.
And he rang me, and I said, oh, yeah, mate, I'll catch up with you.
I'm just a bit busy this week, but next week.
He said, oh, no, I've got to go away, and I'll look you up when I get back.
Well, he went away, and he came back, and then the call went out.
We couldn't find him, and his wife called.
We can't find him, and he'd...
done the deed and they've all got too much for him and I've seen that three or four times and I sort of say to myself shit if I'd only seen him that week but I just couldn't and that had a real big impact on me seeing what people go through when financial pressure hits and I've seen it too many times and I think as blokes we have this inert
pressure inside us to provide, you know, especially when you've got kids and you're married with kids and that, you've got to go out and provide.
And even though they've got the most supportive wife in the world, she says, take it easy, don't worry, it's all good.
But you just feel that pressure to provide.
And, you know, especially when your kids are young.
I'm going back 20 years.
My girls are in their 20s now.
But, yeah, you do.
And that pressure can become quite intense.
