They could be.
Torquay was traditionally part of what's known as the Blue Wall in the South West, as in commonly votes Conservative, so that kind of lies there.
But then Falmouth, as I said, Falmouth also votes Conservative, generally speaking.
And when she describes it, she says that it's made up of three separate worlds, the old fishing village grouped around its harbour.

That was also true of Falmouth as much as it was of Torquay.

But interestingly, I was rereading Poston of Fate the other day.

But she talks there about how Hollow Key, which is clearly Torquay, used to be a fishing village.
So even using the same terminology and the same kind of heritage of the place,
But it's a very vivid depiction regardless, isn't it?
The idea of these different worlds, the castle up on high, the winding roads up to the castle.
I mean, we always say on The Swinging Christies, don't we?
Like, what is Endless Night for the first third that you read it or whatever?
And like, yeah, there's an argument to say that it's Westmacottish.
