Two themes.
Two themes.
The most prominent two themes we tend to do, don't we?
Like the headlines.
the personal politics of relate politics is ultimately just people relating to each other right like the public who vote and relate and are persuaded and i think that's for me that's the main idea behind this book from christie is taking the microcosm of society that is st lou in this in this feverish election period and extrapolating out something not just national in terms of an election but global in terms of the ramifications of the war
I think this is probably really the only time that she's party political.
And I think when she says she's not political, she's misunderstanding what political is because I think to engage with the world in any level, to read a newspaper as an act of politics, to write a novel and publish it and disseminate it to millions of readers worldwide, there cannot fail to be social politics or any kind of politics within that and engaging in that.
And it's a classic case of her self-deprecation because she was a lot smarter and more astute than she always gave herself credit.
But yeah, I think you're right in terms of the actual mechanics.
There are loads of quotes on there about, so for example, Teresa says, I have confined myself to voting for the candidate who seems to me likely to do least harm.
And she also says, I don't think there's anything to choose between them.
I mean, how often do we hear that now?
Well, exactly.
They want a downy sort of chap, slick, which is obviously what John Gabriel represents, the kind of orator, the, you know, compelling, the Blairite.
And again, we talk about that now.
We talk about how, you know, I suspect that Ed Miliband would have been a better prime minister than Keir Starmer, but Keir Starmer to many people looks better in a suit.
And ultimately that's what people, same with Gordon Brown, but Tony Blair talked the talk.
And it goes on.
As far as I can see, the Labour Party is far more frightened of the communists than the Tories are.
I don't need to say it like that.
