Because I have not been able to correct something.

When somebody who I love says the wrong word, I will correct them in order for them not to do it in the future.

But the response has been on a couple of different occasions, don't be an asshole.

You know what I meant, and if you know what I meant, you're being an asshole if you correct me.

But I'm not correcting them to make them feel smaller in that moment.

I'm assuming that they don't want to keep doing that around people who don't love them so they don't make that mistake.
