Man, again, whenever I talk about how... early the pandemic was and how little that we were kind of we were prepped in a way more than a lot of other outlets but then you know i still look at that first review where me imran and nick and bless talked about doom eternal yeah and we did a video list review it was just a audio review only on on on youtube but yeah i played that game on xbox
So that's kind of where it all started of my PC journey, getting into always opening up the Steam things, looking at what's on sale. Now I get it. I finally started to understand what's up with these Steam sales and why do people all get excited about it? I get it now.

I think this is a super ideal version of what a sort of cross-platform thing is. I think most more recent Sony releases wish that they could kind of mirror this. Yeah. And I think early on, the discussions for me always were, if it's exclusive, if it's a timed exclusive on PlayStation only, or if it's a timed exclusive wherever the hell it may be, it comes to PC a year later,

wow, what a great opportunity for them to remarket this game. What a great opportunity to have another kind of blowout online and say, it's coming to PC, everybody. Sure, another marketing beat. Yeah, kind of have like another release, essentially, because it really is, it's almost like a movie releasing in a different country. It's like, oh, now it's popping up over here.

We're going to have another big boom of sales, right? But I think the more and more that we get that we fall deeper in this games as a service hole where people are just kind of where they are. They are in their Fortnite games. They are in whatever games that they spend their time with and spend time with friends in. That those initial sales numbers...

it's rarer for them to be impressive to executives. It's rarer for those initial sales to be like, holy shit, what a big W for us. We're only on PlayStation, and we're going to have another big W whenever it releases on PC. I think...

if you just looked at those numbers from any other standpoint, other than where we're at in this hell hole of more, more, more, more, more, no money, no dollar amount is enough. Marvel rivals has 40 active, 40 million active players, but we're still going to lay off. Um, I think if we are in any other era, those numbers are still impressive to them on console. And then they have a PC release.

So I'm of two minds on this. I could see this going both ways. I could see, uh, a possibility where they say, well, let's just keep on doing this dual release thing. But on the flip side, it's like, well, are you taking too much of a risk there?

Because I think so much of what happens in the industry and with social media and the way everything spreads on Twitter or on TikTok or Instagram or whatever, people inevitably have that FOMO. And people will see that big-ass game came out on PlayStation and Xbox and...

it's breaking all these records on steam holy shit i need to get it right so it's kind of like do you want to risk having that second release day that you know may or may not you know have massive amounts of success or do you just want to have this one big gigantic release don't you want a moment yeah moment where everyone is playing and you're talking about like helldivers is a

Well, what's weird is, like, it didn't used to be that way, though. I think with those initial... I'm blanking on what even the first ones were. Maybe it was... Uncharted?
