I'm writing about two memories.

The first is my earliest memory.

It was 1964.

I know this as it was my fourth birthday.

The memory is of me standing on my dad's shoes and leaning back, holding his hands, looking up at him and asking...

What's for?

I can still see his brown brogue shoes and my little feet standing on them.

I'd been given a red plastic tea set, and as my birthday is always around Easter, I'd been given chocolate eggs.

I'd broken them up into the cups so he could drink tea.

I love that.

My other memory is a much more recent birthday memory, when I shook the hand of the man who's

and Winnie the Pooh.

I met you, Giles, in Leicester Station this past weekend, seeing you at the Curve Theatre.

It was a birthday gift from my son, Jack, who was with me.
