Where the thetan was more like your immortal soul, the GE was like the operator of your body throughout your time on Earth.
But your GE also remembered all your time on Earth before you were a human too, in the same way that a thetan remembered all of its past lives traveling the universe.
And of course, for the many Scientology followers, their genetic entity had a number of painful memories from their time before becoming a human.
One of the biggest recurring engrams that Scientology discovered was that of a clam.
Most people had lived as a clam at some point prior to living as a human, and the clam often found that opening and closing its shell was painful, and this in turn created a lot of jaw pain in pre-clears.
So, all you bitches with your massive Botox, guess what you were prior to this?
That's really good.
I was a clam, apparently.
Hubbard even put forward that asking a pre-clear to make an opening and closing motion with their thumb and forefinger would upset them because it reminded them of being a clam.
Quote from Hubbard on the clam engram theory.
Should you describe the clam to someone, you may re-stimulate it in him to the extent of causing severe jaw pain.
One such victim, after hearing about a clam death, could not use his jaw for three days.
what learning about this proves to me is that people will believe anything.
And it's not their fault on an individual level either.
Especially if you're born into this, you don't know any alternative either.
So now in 1952, it's when Hubbard establishes Scientology as a science and starts publishing books about this new theory.
We're in the middle of post-war America and religion is booming.
Churches around the country are increasing their membership.
Religious movies and songs are a new craze and even Congress adds the phrase under God to the Pledge of Allegiance.
Good old separation of church and state, hey?
