Because if it was a will, if it was her house or her car or whatever, of course she gets to dictate in very strict terms where it should go to.

Because it belonged to her body rather than a different type of ownership, everything kind of goes out the window.

This is actually because of these ancient church laws that we have.

The idea that it's called res nullis, meaning it belongs to nobody, this body.

But this was also the reason or a great cause of all of the grave robbing that happened in the 1800s when dissection became really popular.

So it meant that you couldn't be legally charged for stealing a corpse, but you could be charged with a really serious felony if you stole the clothes that the person was buried in.

So then this additional indignity, this is like 1800s, right?

Professional body snatchers would take the bodies out of the grave and then meticulously strip them naked before sealing them and then make their getaway.

Which is just absolutely insane that it's stealing a human.

It's fine.
