It really does, and I think we all are relieved that that is the case.
It goes to show a couple of things we were saying last week, that the conversation between the president and Governor Walz and Mayor Frye โ I hope I'm pronouncing the young mayor's name right โ and the mayor of St.
Paul, all of this should have happened sooner.
I think I was trying to say last week that if you believe the president may be coming to your state or city โ
be it New York or California or Colorado, the right thing to do would be to reach out to him before.
It's painful to think that the kinds of things, the events that have unfolded in Minneapolis have had to unfold for us to reach this point.
But I watched a woman from Iowa, an elderly woman from Iowa, walking out of a grocery store earlier who said she was a Trump supporter.
When they asked her about what's going on in Minneapolis, what does she think?
She says, I'm not for all these protests and things.
But you've got to stop shooting people.
And I think at the end of the day, that's where people that's where people are.
There's no doubt when someone asks you, law enforcement asks you to stop, to stand here, to not do this.
The answer should be yes.
But I'm also a believer that unless law enforcement feels like there is an imminent threat to their lives, that we ought to be really, really careful about shooting people.
I think the president doing what he's done is an act of leadership.
I think Governor Walz doing what he's doing is an act of leadership.
