So apparently this is a story about Irene and her ChatGPT boyfriend, Leo.
And the New York Times interviewed Irene about a year ago.
And she said that she started talking to ChatGPT in a romantic and even sexual way because she was in a relationship.
She was actually married.
married to a real life man.
And she took a job or a nursing job or she was in nursing school or something like that abroad.
And she was living with her family to save money.
And the husband was living in a different country.
So they were long distance.
I couldn't imagine being in a long distance relationship in general, but certainly not a long distance marriage.
That's crazy.
But the husband was OK with her being in a romantic relationship with ChatGPT because to him it wasn't cheating, which is, again, like a huge red flag.
I think this guy's a total beta.
But the husband kind of greenlit this.
And this woman said, OK, I'm going to I'm going to date this fake person.
And it started with ChatGPT, there's a limit.
And you kind of have to pay to play a little bit where at first it was $20 a month to send 30 messages per hour and she was maxing out.
So she ended up paying a $200 per month subscription to have unlimited access to her ChatGPT boyfriend.
leo and again the husband is totally fine with this but chat gpt doesn't save all of your messages it only stores a certain amount of them so after they were in this relationship for a little bit she would have all the messages kind of deleted and leo would forget that they were in a relationship because all those messages are gone so then it's just leo like hey how can i help you today kind of a thing and she's thinking well
oh my gosh, my boyfriend forgot who I am.
