And what may surprise you more than anything is that Auckland Council did do that on purpose.

This is this little precinct upgrade program down at Britomart where Tyler Street is.
They popped the lamppost pole in the middle of the lane in front of the disabled parking spot because they want drivers to slow down.
They want them to take their time and be deliberate in the manoeuvring of their vehicles.
We appreciate the mayor's comments and will investigate how we can make subtle changes to make this work better for all users.
The subtle change would be to take the pole out of the middle of the bloody road.
Like, that's weird.
That is a weird thing to do.
These people never stop.
First it was the planter boxes, then they were painting things like ladybirds, and now they're sticking poles in the middle of the bloody street.
Anyway, because you know what's going to happen is one day it's going to be a cyclist coming down there looking the wrong way, and they go, oh, that's not the one we wanted to hurt, but you did.
Also, the other thing is don't trust.
Now that I've discovered Wayne Brown is texting me on the WhatsApp, I need to be careful because it's obviously not trustworthy.
