This is now Pauline Hanson, who I'm actually filling in on Sky TV this week.
and interviewing her today it's put her in the frame where people keep asking you well can you be prime minister uh she was first asked that question uh on sunday and said well i wouldn't say no to the job and then that set off a firestorm of debate about whether she could or could not be the prime minister of the country now for starts he's in the senate so that makes it virtually impossible all our prime ministers bar one have always been in the lower house
And so then she was asked, would you consider standing for a House of Representatives seat and perhaps putting yourself in the lower house, giving yourself the chance to run the country?
And she said that is under consideration.
These numbers are staggering.
To remind New Zealanders, Australia's done a deal with the UK and the US over nuclear submarines.
We were to get one brand-new Virginia-class sub built in America and two of the Virginia-class subs that are currently in use.
These are the most powerful underwater weapons in the world.
It's always been a tricky situation for Labor.
This was all stitched together by the former coalition government under Scott Morrison, and we now have various...
spot fires breaking out across the Labor Party in the lead-up to their national conference, which is later this year.
Yesterday on Sky, Ed Husic, a backbencher, said that he thinks we need to have a rethink about it.
He does not believe that Australia needs to be spending that huge amount of money, and that's $368 billion, by the way, on nuclear submarines, that we would be better off trying to purchase the subs from an alternative company
alternative source, perhaps Japan.
AUKUS itself involves more than just buying subs.
We would have American submarines rotating out of Perth, and there would be facilities built somewhere on the Queensland coast as well.
So Anthony Albanese now has a big problem.
He says, look, AUKUS is all fine.
It's on track.
We are all across it.
