I also didn't want to get sued.
So I chose to write it in fiction and kind of catch it in a story.
So Invisible Boys is about three boys, Zeke, Charlie and Hammer.
As Benjamin Law just summed it up, I did an event with him a couple of nights ago and he said, you've got the gay boy Spice Girls.
So he's like, you've got Rock Spice, Jock Spice and Shy Spice.
So there's the geek, the punk and the jock.
And essentially they're three different aspects of myself.
Very different boys, not stereotypical gay boys.
And they're all coming to terms with different stages of their sexuality.
And the whole book is really about masculinity, sexuality, identity, you know, mental health, all the stuff that goes with it.
But very isolated.
Yeah, I think that's the thing.
I think I've had, especially people like younger kids now in city environments and now in 2019, I mean, we're living in a very different time already.
I think this has shifted a lot in the last 10 years.
We've all kind of seen that.
So kids now are kind of at school and they're coming out when they're 12.
And I just think that's amazing.
Like I'm so happy about that.
But in a very recent history, doing that same thing in a country town,
was unthinkable for me and for other people like myself because it was just so, it was so confronting as a boy being gay.
