The following episode of The Imperfects features a conversation about sexual assault.
If this is too much for you right now, then we suggest you skip this one and come back when you're ready.
So I won't be surprised by it.
I hope not.
Hopefully not if we've done it right.
Yeah.
Wonderful.
That's an amazing instinct to do that.
Do you know where that came from, to write all that down?
Yeah.
It's fascinating to me because I, you, you hear all the time of people
who are sexually assaulted and I've heard stories of people having that questioning of did that really happen and then not telling people.
Do you have any insight as to why it was that in that moment you were like, it seems like you were desperate to tell as many close people as you could?
I couldn't necessarily get onto them to speak at that at 6am, but there was an instinct of like, I have to tell people now.
it's such an interesting thing you bring up about belief and they're not not questioning you um and disbelief as opposed to like distrust um do you have you given much thought to i mean it's i feel it's strange not strange to bring up but have you have you given much thought to like
The fact that you being a young man who is like โ I guess a young man who presents as very kind of โ and I hope you don't mind me saying this, but very stereotypically straight โ
um, white guy of what, how much that sort of identity plays into people's, maybe your own assumptions of people will believe me and then people's reaction to it as well.
Well, I'm just wondering if you've thought about that because it seems to me that if a woman or a queer person or just someone of a more of a or from a more minority background is in that situation,
the assumption of truth is not often given to them.
Yeah.
