Don't, you know, you're out there one day and it's like, oh, it's a range gun.
Okay, do you know why that pistol's got a grip safety?
Well, typically they are.
John Browning designed that because when the 1911 was first introduced, it did not have a thumb safety.
Right, right.
It had a grip safety.
The reason it had a grip safety is because generally it was mounted cavalry carrying 1911s.
Yep.
And so he wanted to ensure you had a good enough grip on the gun to disengage the safety.
So if, when you're shooting it on horseback, you don't lose the fucking gun.
Right.
You know, and then the army said, we want a thumb safety or the army said, we need a way for you to render the gun safe.
So if the Mount of Calvary has got a gain or regain control of his mount, he can render the gun safe to holster.
Right, which is cool.
And that's where the whole thumb safety come into play.
So if you're disengaging that grip safety β
because you can't get enough, a good enough grip on it to disengage it, then your fundamentals are fucked and you're not controlling the gun like you should.
Right.
I mean, I don't either, because I've got a whole bunch of Colts that's got just a standard old beaver tail.
That's a, you know what?
