Most of the world events, like if you look at Netanyahu talking to Trump, that is basically the kind of archetype that's being elicited.
And they don't always give democracy back at the end of it.
Democracy is ultimately a transactional experience.
It is a politician that just stands there and goes, I will do this for you.
Could be like, you know, two hours of free, you know, early years care or whatever.
It can be really quite minor, really quite modest.
They make the promise and you vote for them and they deliver on the promise.
And if they don't deliver on the promise, you're disappointed.
You can chuck them out and you vote for someone else.
They're like, it's transactional, but it's sacred.
But what it relies on is a politician who can deliver on promises.
Democracy doesn't work unless you can show that the things you say will happen will happen.
At the moment, we are not demonstrating that.
Because over and over, we're getting tied up in our complete...
fear of leveling with voters, of being able to deliver on policymaking properly, of just delivering on basic competence and rudimentary aptitude in government.
Because of that, we're not delivering.
And so people's faith in democracy is starting to crumble.
They're starting to be willing to take very, very daring choices.
And when I say daring, I mean that in the worst possible way.
Everything comes down to that fact.
