Where we had the industrial revolution, which made... We had a lot of workers employed in industrial uses, but producing far more than we were ever producing before.
And everything seemed to just seem, wasn't seamlessly flowing through, but there was a period of, you know, staged development.
And, you know, economists look back over history and say, well, look, this is what's happened in the past.
Every time we've had some great technological revolution, new jobs have been created as a result of it.
And I think there's a lot of economists out there who are thinking at the moment, that's just going to happen again.
But in each case, in all of those revolutions, what we were doing was we were replacing labor with machinery.
Now we're replacing intelligence with machinery.
And I don't think anybody really took it as a threat or took it too seriously when OpenAI first released machines.
ChatGPT, an interesting little tool that you can use to, instead of Googling things, you can just ask a question.
And then two years ago, ChatGPT became something that could actually perform tasks in the workforce.
I think people started to think, hmm, this is possibly going to lead to a much bigger shift
in employment and workplace relations than we've ever seen before.
And then, of course, late last year, we saw Claude really hit Wall Street.
And I think that was the realisation that this is something that could really
be a complete game changer when it comes to employment.
And Claude, of course, can write code.
It can write computer code.
And that's why you've got companies like Microsoft, you've got companies like Atlassian, all of these companies that have relied upon writing code for software that in its own way revolutionizes the way we work.
Well, the code writers, I mean, it's one of the great ironies.
