So I can remember seeing him sitting in the back of his truck when he'd get done with a run in the mountains.
So when I'd walk out into the parking lot, I'd see him sitting out there and ask him about his run.
Right.
It's all uplifted from earthquake activity.
That's Punchbowl Fault, and that runs parallel with the mountains.
And then when you came up the hill, you crossed the San Andreas Fault, which is, of course, the big one that runs through California.
Several faults in the area took all this sand that was laid down flat by streams and tilted it up into vertical relief.
You can see a definite bowl shape coming around like this.
So that's where it got the punch bowl name.
Yeah, mine will definitely be better.
Okay, here's the Devil's Point.
And there's Burkhart Trail right there.
It goes over toward Devil's Chair, so that'd be just to the east.
It goes to South Fork.
So the high mountain behind the telephone pole over there?
That's Baden-Powell, and that's where he would go sometimes.
Jeez, that is one of the higher ones.
