I've actually just been looking at photos of you guys back in the day.

And am I right in saying almost instantly as you set sail, you hit a storm pretty quickly?

The only problem?

Well, absolutely none of them, apart from Dad Dougal, had ever sailed before.

Little did they know at that time, but it wouldn't be their lack of sailing knowledge that would see them eventually come unstuck.

But an unforeseen force of nature would see them in a fight for their lives.

But before we get to all of that, we've got to start at the very beginning.

And we do so with one of the members of that very family.

Douglas Robertson was just 16 years old when his family would set sail on an adventure that nearly cost them their lives.

Obviously, it's important to go right to the very beginning to your family and how this all sort of came about.
