Federal Reserve Board Chairman Jerome Powell in an interview today said despite some criticism from President-elect Trump about the central bank, he feels the ability to set interest rates free of political interference is necessary. Powell says an independent central bank is needed to serve all Americans. Speaking during the New York Times Dealbook Summit, Powell also said he thinks the U.S.
